Biography
El-Naas is a Professor of Chemical Engineering in the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department, with expertise in biotechnology, bioreactors and membrane separation. His research interests also include CO2 capture and sequestration; electrocoagulation; water purification; and plasma technology. Most of his recent research work focuses on the development of new, environmental friendly processes for the Oil and Gas industry. He has recently developed a patent-pending bioreactor system for the biodegradation of BTEX. Dr. El-Naas is a member of the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineers, a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a Fellow of the International Congress of Chemistry and Environment. Dr. El-Naas is a recipient of the Asian Education Leadership Award in Chemical & Petroleum Engineering for the years 2013 and 2014.
